Bait Bag?

Do you know what a bait bag is? If you are a bait fisherman (especially live worms) you may want to read this article. A bait bag is the most effective piece of fishing gear that an angler who enjoys fishing with live bait can have. A bait bag can be homemade, or a cool one can be purchased, it makes no difference how you get your bait bag, the point is that if you fish with bait, you need one. Steven Wright said of us anglers, "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore, looking like an idiot." In my opinion, that quote is not only funny, but also very true, and employing a piece of fishing gear such as a bait bag can help us all avoid the latter part of that wonderful quote.

What does a bait bag look like? A bait bag is simply a small bag that hangs off of an anglers fishing vest, shirt, or belt, that holds the anglers bait while they are fishing. This eliminates the need to carry around Styrofoam containers and such. For example, with worms, you would simply take the live worms from the container that you buy them in, put them all into the bait bag, and you're off to fish. The worms "nestle" in the bait, waiting to be used. They don't try to crawl out or anything. A bait bag is the only way to carry live worms while fishing.

My fishing mentor came up with this simple concept more than 20 years ago, and for years I used what he used to use. An old sock. That's right, if you want to make your own bait bag, simply cut the toe end odd of an old sock, and attach it to your fishing vest or shirt. An old sock is a great way to make your own bait bag. If you want a bait bag that is much more functional and a ton better looking than an old sock, check out JRWfishing.com. As I alluded to before, how you get one is of little importance. What's important is that you begin using a bait bag for carrying your bait while fishing. The days of carrying those bulky bait containers around while you fish are simply gone. You wouldn't fish without a way to carry your tackle with you, right? The same theory should go for your bait as well.
